I think that within a few films the Bond series got much better music than it deserved, of course John Barry also recorded many other scores and in the last decade put out entirely original works free of any producer’s demands, but Bond is his pop cultural badge like Sergio Leone’s Westerns are Ennio Morricone’s. I don’t think any other composer in recent times knew how to get a string section to sing a lush enveloping lament to the human heart. He drove all the pomposity out of an orchestra and let it breathe a sensuous atmosphere that so often elevated a film far beyond its more moribund ambitions (I think it was the laid back jazz cat in him). So I like him, ‘kay? One of my favourites was his score for Disney’s The Black Hole, for a long time a rather hard to find vinyl LP (got mine in a strange charity shop for £1.50 down the hill from the Bronte sister’s house one cold Sunday in Yorkshire). This is a short but utterly gorgeous track ‘Six Robots’ that rumbles setting the scene at first then about 29 secs in the strings wind about us and take us on a zero gravity indulgence into pure dark deep space heaven…or hell.

Let’s not beat about the Bush, the first decade of this millennium was seized by the worst dregs of humanity and they continue to attempt to impose their cesspit doctrines upon us. But that was the river, this is the sea. 2011, the Ruling Class are gonna regret thinking they can wipe out a century of advances and return us quivering into debt peonage. That shit, is NOT going to fly my friends. WORD.

Meanwhile I am told some people become intoxicated with alcohol on occasions such as tonight, however I will save you all the hassle, expense and sickness with alcowebizer.com! Just head over there, put in the url of your choice and it will display a webpage as it appears to one under different degrees of inebriation. Here is mine. Then drag the slider through increasing drink levels…oh the colours, the fonts, the random Lolcats… it’s booze-tastic. Happy New Year!
