Directed by Tom Haines this reminds me of Lindsay Anderson (be warned of nasty scenes). Telling that now in the fourth decade of neoliberal rule black comedy and social comment are surviving in a few pop videos while Brit film makes…The King’s Speech. Laugh/cry?

The 20 longest times a person who is detained under Immigration Act powers (ie locked up for no crime)

Yes folks that’s 4.9 years, locked up, for committing no crime. Confirming the nationalists, Blue Labour and fascists (or Border Agency contracted guards) point that immigrants get favourable treatment, British citizens mostly have to commit a crime and be sentenced in court before spending years behind bars (well unless you’re a muslim), these queue jumping immigrant types just waltz into the country and get banged up with no effort at all.

The globe’s richest have now recouped the losses they suffered after the 2008 banking crisis. They are richer than ever, and there are more of them – nearly 11 million – than before the recession struck.

While security forces batter people as governments pass ‘austerity’ measures. This cold class war is heating up. We should have a debt jubilee, however-

I don’t think our government’s have any interest in protecting us. They may say they do, and may make noises about ‘necessary measures’ but they seem mind-blind to any alternatives to what the bankers whisper in their ears

So look forward to the future

Juarez is not a breakdown of the social order. Juarez is the new order.

Update: Poor hit by far higher inflation rate than rich in wake of recession, says IFS & Benefit cuts: single mothers are the biggest losers.
So it goes, I think what both amazes and disgusts the elite is the extent their victims take the abuse, it is both necessary for the parasites to thrive but simultaneously it disgusts them about us. So really it would help them to respect us if we enacted self defence against this onslaught. Strike on June 30th.

How nice a life is boiled down to the Orwellian descriptor ‘Jobseeker’ (as opposed to unemployed, which is simply illegal language in our paradise). Meanwhile the Royal College of Psychiatrists say the entire system is in crisis. Luckily though financiers are doing ok (£63m going to among others Helena Bonham Carter’s brother, but hey there’s no class/caste system here, John Major said so), so there’s some good news for us all in this together. Dear Greece, take down your government and dump the onerous debt, and if we had any guts we would do likewise.

A MAN with mental health problems who was worried about benefit cuts killed himself while he was searching for a job on the south coast, an inquest heard.

Paul Willcoxson, 33, was found hanging in Pignals Enclosure, near Hollands Wood campsite, Lyndhurst, by walkers on April 14.

The 33-year-old from Corby, Northants, was in the area searching for a summer job when he killed himself.

A suicide letter and next of kin note were found in which he expressed concerns about Government cuts, Southampton Coroner’s Court heard.

Deputy Southampton coroner Gordon Denson recorded a verdict of suicide.

I’ve worked quite hard at not being depressed and socially phobic, every thing I have done has been an effort but I have pursued it as a means to keep the dark doldrums at bay and to perhaps maintain a kind of life or even to feel normal-ish. Anyways sooner or later my bit of income support that paid incapacity benefit would end as the ongoing neoliberal project of our political class gained further ground. The changes brought about by to ESA and the fake medical tests are now hoving into view, I got the first letter today. So I’ll keep track of it as maybe it will help get through it or help others, Benefits & Work is an invaluable website giving procedural and legal guidance through their excellent documents, you need to pay to access them but they are worth it. Right now my standard reactions are playing out, tension, anxiety, feeling hot, shivery with accelerated heartbeat and increased frequency of suicidal thoughts, but as that is fairly well established that stressors produce that in those under mental distress I must conclude the system is designed with no care as to what damage they do or it is intentional. So they are negligent or evil, take your pick. I’d be dead already if I relied on any large institution or system, in the past you might easily fall through the cracks. What is remarkable now is inefficencies, cuts and negligence affecting mental health users are being strategically harnessed in an active drive to harm them, heralded with hate speech filled corporate media, dutifully churning out press releases the DWP themselves use to demonise people with perjorative language and dishonest statistics. I am also well aware that the big 3 parties have a ‘consensus’ on this, perhaps best demonstrated by the banker ‘Sir’ David Freud going from New Labour welfare ‘reformer’ to the coalition (with Field & Hutton in tow). So there is no political option in this *ha* democracy that is not backing this attack on welfare, we just have ourselves.

En Solidaridad.
