Oh noes it’s a snow post, but we rarely get such a covering on this bit of the island, anecdotal accounts say it was 30 years ago the last time our bit ‘o’ coast got proper inches deep snow. The warming of the sea for once confounded and cheeky snow even hanging out on the beach taunting its salty cousin with its cold crystalline uniqueness. However if you are worried your Xmas might be imperilled by the Blanket of White Death!!!!!!! (I think that’s how the media are playing it) Fear not because you can fight it with an instant (just add water or something) Black Christmas in a bag-

So while the internet was brokened, I wrote a quick rant-
Those attacking Jody McIntyre (and protesters in general) are doing so because they rely on the current establishment for their power and wealth, their careers. They like to think of themselves as good people, talented, successful, charming, whatever… they most definitely do not want it pushed into their face that their lovely lives are based upon structural and actual violence. It is as if one of their splendid dinner parties has been derailed by a new guest climbing up onto the table squatting down and uncurling a healthy steaming shit right on their best linen (puts me in mind of the de-evolution of Merchant Ivory, once they made Savages, before becoming award winning bores and polite guests).
‘How can great person like me be party to such filthy squalid horribleness?’ They ask themselves, concluding, ‘Well I can’t be because I am good, talented, successful, charming, therefore those rocking my dreamboat, the mouthy malcontents must be very awful thuggish spivs and fibbers.’
Most particularly they do not like people from groups they like to patronise with charity donations being uppity, ‘We do Children in Need once a year, what more do you want? Know your place object of pity, but do not demand the same rights as us elites or fight the privilege that is intent on crushing you in order to escape the bill for its crimes. Austerity you vermin, now say thank you sir, please may I have another.’
And I have never heard so many modifiers- alleged, apparently, amateur video footage, claimed. Compared to this witnesses to UFO sightings are treated like ultra credible voices of official authority and truth.
Their preening egos and professional delusions, really cannot callow them to contemplate their six figure income is based on police beating the shit out of people while they agree with it and churn out repetitions of PR statements by demonstrable liars. Then there’s the ones who do know that and relish it, but even they rustle up rationalisations for why they are in the right, that their superiority justifies anything.
A whole host of wealthy, educated for free off our taxes (and that still applies for public school, who as charities get to cheat tax) cheering that chance being removed from this and future generations, that is the ugly spectacle that is not apparent, alleged, or filmed by amateurs, it’s rammed into our faces every sodding second by the commentariat wank squad.
David Davies the Tory MP for Monmouth, deputy leader of the Conservative Party in Wales and Chairman of the Welsh Affairs Committee (you need all that because there are gallons of similarly named politicians) has an obsession with immigration, pesky Human Rights and political correctness, he has voted ‘moderately‘ against LGBT rights. He also condones torture:
The Conservative MP for Monmouth, David Davies, insisted that the Government should repeal the [Human Rights] Act after the new commission has properly considered the legal implications.’Active members of Al Qaeda and the Taliban are living in this country and not being deported because of concerns about their human rights if something horrible happens to them if they are sent home,’ Mr Davies said. ’Personally I would have thought that would be a bonus rather than a reason for not sending them back. I don’t mind if the Act is torn up, changed or amended. But I hope that whatever this commission comes up with, the views of the vast majority of people in this country who believe it is fundamentally wrong are respected.’
For those in Wales who had noticed his rabid burblings- Rape caused by immigrant’s culture or upset if he is accurately labelled as far right, which in tedious politician fashion he elevates into a straw man (they called me a Nazi!!!!) to attempt to get a apology (he failed), he was a reliable source of BNP lite soundbites-
He added: “For the record my grandfather fought against Nazism in World War II and my other grandfather was a miner, so he couldn’t. If you’d have asked both of them, they would have said that they weren’t fighting for a country where there would be unlimited immigration and where enemies of the state – members of the Taliban now can come into this country bring their families with them, claim asylum and get priority on the housing list over ex-members of the British army who leave the armed forces.”
And before you know it he froths off about the evil Muslim Caliphate conspiracy (denying the link between our wars of agression and domestic terrorist attacks, a link even MI5 acknowledged) -
But let us not think that the war has led to the current bombing campaign by Islamic terrorists. Those responsible would be letting off bombs regardless because their real goal is not the removal of British troops from Iraq , but the imposition of an Islamic state or Caliphate across the Muslim World and Europe .
With his old and neglected blog we can play wingnut bingo-
- The War on Christmas
- BBC is biased (against Christians!)
- Fox Hunting
- ‘Stop funding politically correct organisations which claim to stick up for minority groups’ He specifically mentions:- ‘NHS Equality Unit. This is an organisation funded out of NHS money which looks for examples of “homophobia and racism” in the NHS. Stonewall, the Ethnic Business Support Programme, the Minority Ethnic Women’s Network, The Black Environmental Network, the All Wales Ethnic Minority Association.’
- Anti Choice
- Gypsies!
- Economic Genius:- Company taxation levels are far lower across the Irish sea something which has surely played a far greater role in Ireland’s economic success than it’s membership of the Euro.
- ‘Having released numerous IRA terrorists from jail Mr “Tough on terror” Blair is about to grant an amnesty to IRA terrorists on the run. Meanwhile British soldiers who served in Northern Ireland in the 70s could face prosecution for carrying out their duties.’ Now I duuno, could he mean the Bloody Sunday Inquiry?
- Um Muslims are like Catholics who tried to blow up parliament or something. Not sure where he gets his history from, the big book of Britishness?
- Hate Crime
- Israel
- Hijab
- England ended slavery so we don’t have to apologise for it…
- Yay the Closet!
- Silly NHS treating foreigners, ‘the NHS, or rather the Inter- National Health Service‘
- He does stress that he can’t be racist because he is married to a Hungarian woman. I am sure some of his best friends are black too.
- He does not support the death penalty, thus denying us a Full House, well ‘yet‘.
- Though to be fair, he did not give Blair a standing ovation when he left the House, as many did.
Once the Tories gained power it has been only a matter of time before he started to come out with more crypto fascist sounding bile. And he’s hit a double here, he appears to believe the military and police should have their rights privileged about the rest of the public, he makes an obtuse allusion to people benefitting from positive discrimination, a standard right wing race bating dog whistle, on his way to proclaiming that veterans should get preferential treatment in job interviews. Elevation of military service to a privileged celebrated ideal is a fascist cliché, so he’s not even original. Then on Public Order he bemoans the IPCC might investigate police crimes against protesters and be supported by ‘some in high places’, he really shouldn’t worry, the IPCC is a co-opted PR agency to ensure no aggressive investigation of police crimes happen.
Oral Answers to Questions – Defence: Former Service Personnel (Support Services) (13 Dec 2010)
David Davies: Has the Minister considered lobbying the Government to
change the law so that ex-service personnel can be discriminated in
favour of in job interviews? Does he agree that were we to add
ex-service personnel to the list of people in our society who can be
discriminated in favour of, it would be a true example of positive
discrimination?Oral Answers to Questions – Defence: Public Order Policing (13 Dec 2010)
David Davies: Does the Home Secretary acknowledge that one problem is
that the police know that any attempt to deal with violent protest will
be met by a barrage of complaints to the IPCC, which some in high places
will support? Does she accept that it is time that we started to think a
little more about the human rights of police officers to do their jobs
free of assault and injury?
So when the cops were dragging Jody McIntyre out of his wheelchair, not once but twice, Davey boy must have been cheering the poor oppressed thin blue line (careful fellas, he might be hiding some crutches). But don’t have nightmares, David Davies also serves as a special constable for the British transport police. I am sure an asylum seeker, an LGBT person, a peace activist or a democratically engaged student needing his assistance would gain full help and his personal beliefs would in no way lead to them being treated unfairly, even if those same beliefs drive him to be an MP and legislate to support them.
On the 15th we are focussing on Housing Benefit cuts, below is text you can copy and distribute and remix:-
- Local Housing Allowances – currently based on the median rent in an area – will be be reduced to the 30th percentile (bottom third approx) of private rents, will affect 774,970 households across the UK, who will lose an average of £9 a week.
- In Manchester recipients will lose £61 a month, while in the north-east households in Newcastle will see a drop of £43. Loss in Cambridge is estimated at £100 a month, while those in Brighton and Hove and Woking will lose £69
- A report by the DWP shows that almost 100% of LHA (Local Housing Allowance) recipients in Wales will be worse off by an average of £9 a week.
- Cap of £400 a week on a four bedroom house £250 a week for a two-bedroom home.
- Percentage of privately rented properties available to housing benefit claimants in central London will fall from more than 50% to just 7%.
- It is not only the unemployed and those with disabilities or health issues, 680,000 working households claim housing benefit, 14% of the total housing benefit caseload.
- Because rents rise at an average of 5% a year, the government ceiling of £250 a week housing benefit for a two-bedroom home would be quickly reached in many parts of the south.
- Jobseeker’s Allowance claimants who are in receipt of Housing Benefit will also be penalised – from April 2013 after they have been claiming JSA for a year they will have their Housing Benefit entitlement cut by 10 per cent – presumably meaning that they have to move house, become homeless or pay the extra with their £65 a week JSA.
Protest to your MP, check media & web for planned protests, see National Day of Protest Against Welfare & Housing Benefit Cuts on Facebook. This can be stopped if everyone resists the Coaltion’s Austerity Doctrine that makes us pay for crimes committed by the banks, financiers, tax cheating corporations and successive Neoliberal Governments of all Parties.
Update: Welsh text kindly rushed through.
22 January 2009 British soldiers say they are unhappy injured colleagues are being treated on the same ward as Taleban militants at an Afghanistan field hospital. Personnel at Camp Bastion in Helmand Province told the BBC they should not be forced to share wards.
12 December 2010 After allegedly being hit by police, the philosophy student fell unconscious and later sustained bleeding on the brain.
His mother added: “The ambulance man took us to Chelsea and Westminster hospital. That [hospital] had been given over to police injuries and there was a standoff in the corridor. Alfie was obviously a protester and the police didn’t want him there, but the ambulance man insisted that he stayed.”
She said that he was then asked to take Alfie to another hospital. “The ambulance man was appalled and he said: ‘I’m getting angry now, and I’m not going to do this.’
“The senior nurse in charge took us into a resuscitation room to keep us away from the police because, she said, they were finding it upsetting to see protesters in the hospital.”
An essential component of any organised violence is the othering of the enemy, when civil police are coming forth with the same tropes as soldiers it is very worrying, does it indicate the police now consider the public they -should(!)- serve as actually a deadly enemy they hate? Also see
Hayley Adamson, 16, died after being hit by the car driven by Pc John Dougal in May 2008. He was later jailed. Minutes after the fatal crash …Dog handler Pc Julie Neve was heard referring to Hayley as a “Scotchy Scumbag” after her death – a reference to the area of Scotswood close to Hayley’s home.
While this animus is essential to an Austerity enforcing elite, it makes the agents of state violence more capable of abusing their fellow citizens, it is a dangerous slide into institutionalised abuse of the public by a radicalised security forces at a time the ruling groups are enacting naked class war as they take advantage of a crisis of mostly their own making. In historical terms, such neoliberal shock treatment has been accustomed by large scale human rights abuses by security forces up to and including mass abductions and the torturing to death of detainees. If we do not challenge this dehumanising of the public and militarisation of the police, the current violence against demonstrators will only increase, that it is already being used in a terroristic way to scare off further opposition is bad enough.
At the embassy, Bax said she was attended to by two male police medics who took off her hijab to inspect her head. One, she claimed, commented that the action was “like unwrapping a pass-the-parcel”. Bax said the officer later repeated the comment. “The paramedics were putting my stuff in my bag and he said, ‘you need to put her headscarf in … it’s a pass-the-parcel, to be honest’.” At Guy’s and St Thomas’ hospital, Bax said, the same officer debated with her over the merits of tuition fees, telling her she was “narrow minded” and should stop reading the Guardian and read the Telegraph and the Daily Mail more often.
Rachel Bergan from Barnsley, 17: ‘ We were right at the front. There was a huge crowd behind us so we were pushed forward. There was nothing we could do about it. They [the police] saw us coming towards them, these teenage girls who wanted to go home. They didn’t show any mercy whatsoever. They threw around my friends who were just 17 year old slim girls. They were beating my friends with batons. They didn’t show any sympathy in their voice and I didn’t see anything in their eyes. It was awful. I’ve never experienced anything like it.”
I’ve realised I have been posting videos without a proper BBFC certification statement as to their rating, and I’m sure you know how much I respect censorship and the need to cosset the delicate sensibilities of the internet audience. You can rest easy now, safe in the knowledge you will know the level of offence in future.
