That is the verdict of the Right Honourable Norman Baker MP, unfortunately his investigation is included in a documentary going out in the ‘Conspiracy files’ strand on BBC2 tonight so it is immediately made dubious by being labelled a conspiracy:-
Mr Baker, who has spent a year investigating the case, believes there is enough evidence to suggest that the scientist did not kill himself.
The Liberal Democrat MP said toxicology reports suggested there was not enough painkiller in Dr Kelly’s system to kill him, and the method he had apparently chosen to commit suicide was not a recognised or effective one.
“I’m satisfied it was not suicide. And after that you’re left with the conclusion that his life was deliberately taken by others,” he tells The Conspiracy Files.
He tells the programme it has been suggested to him that the weapons scientist was assassinated. -
What we now know is that on the day Kelly died a large chunk of the intelligence case for the Iraq war was formally withdrawn by the spooks, if this had been known at the time the govt’s case would have been in tatters. But this withdrawal was kept secret, the only way the public would have found out was if a highly placed source with Iraqi WMD & intelligence expertise was talking to the press, on that day David Kelly was found dead, go figure.
NB. At the end of the linked BBC article there is a hilarious theory it was done by Iraqi intelligence, the source for it is one man who has ties to neo-cons and their favoured PR agency Benador. So it’s misinformation bullshit that should be discounted.
